The Gorbals, Glasgow

Laurieston TRA is situated south of Glasgow City Centre. The project is being delivered by Transforming Communities : Glasgow (TCG), Urban Union and New Gorbals Housing Association. TCG is a Partnership between Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Housing Association and the Scottish Government. Urban Union is a private consortium comprising of The Robertson Group and McTaggart Construction. The partnership is delivering the regeneration of the Laurieston to provide:
• Upto 1000 new homes (of which 40% is affordable housing)
• Hotel, leisure and commercial space
• A new City Centre park
• Jobs, apprenticeships, training and work experience for local people
• Temporary uses of vacant railway arches and land including a community garden & food growing area and creative events
• The redevelopment of an ‘A’ Listed Building, railway arches and former train station
The partnership is allowing each member to play to its strengths, utilising the best of public and private sector resources & expertise to deliver the joint regeneration strategy for the area.
