Retailer of the Week: Oxbow

French retailer Oxbow is making waves in the world of surfwear.



Conceived in 1985, by fashion designer Isabelle Cachot, and boardsport enthusiast Fabrice Valeri, Oxbow represents the first French house of surfwear, providing superior products “designed for the waterman”.

An incarnation of the values and excellence of extraordinary icons such as Laird Hamilton, the Ultimate Waterman, Oxbow has developed quality sports clothing to be worn in a relaxed, yet elegant manner. For more than 25 years, Oxbow is proud to offer exceptional products, and identifies their brand as an expression of a lifestyle synonymous with freedom. As a pioneer of chic surfwear, Oxbow offers innovative and open-minded solutions, as well as the opportunity to connect with the magnificence and intensity of nature.


Oxbow will join over 2,400 expected retailers at MAPIC!


In 1991, Oxbow gained notoriety among top surfwear brands thanks to their revival of the World Longboard Championship. Although surfwear is a major focus of the brand, Oxbow also offers clothing for winter sports, and is the creator of the “Back to Powder” event, which gathers the top 12 snowboarders and freestyle skiers in the world.

Today, Oxbow is present in five sports: surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, snowboarding and skiing.

Select athletes represent the brand as members of “Team Oxbow”, including the “Unlimited Team” (experienced riders, most representative of the brand), the “Progression Team” (young, up-and-coming riders representing the future of the brand) and the “Exploration Team” (riders traveling the world in search of new locations, cultures and sensations).

Since 2005, Oxbow is a member of the French Lafuma Group, which includes complementary activewear brands Lafuma, Millet, Le Chameau and Eider.
