Robert Bonwell is the CEO of EMEA retail at major global property intelligence firm Jones Lang LaSalle. According to him, expansion and investment opportunities await in targeted areas of Europe. While countries like Spain and Italy may be faltering, new hotbeds of activity exist in Germany, Turkey, Russia and Poland. These countries boast strong GDPs and economic growth and are ripe for new projects.
Jones Lang LaSalle recently completed a Retail 2020 report looking to the future of the industry. Bonwell said some key themes emerged, including economic indicators smart companies cannot afford to ignore.
He sees the influence of the digital world on physical retail being one of the most pertinent issues facing investors, developers and brands. Sustainability and creating a new shopping experience are also critical, and the time to act on these new trends is now.
