One of the key themes to come out of MAPIC 2011 was the crucial role of leisure in new schemes, with a number of the big developers insisting that the proportions of leisure within their newer projects has become far higher than their older projects.

On top of Spain’s Puerto Venecia supermall and Hammerson’s upcoming scheme in Marseilles, Land Securities’ Trinity Leeds scheme will see new big development in the UK.

Trinity Leeds will offer retailers over 120 modern, flexible units ranging from 100 to 100,000 sq.ft and located in the city’s prime retail area.

The scheme will see renowned international restaurant operator D&D London open its first restaurant in England outside of London when two new locations open at the Trinity Leeds location. The project will also include a large cinema and retailers including Marks & Spencer and Zara.
