Reporting back on the conclusions of the MIPIM 2011 Mayors’ Think Tank.
The Mayors’ Think Tank at this year’s MIPIM attracted a high-powered group of city leaders from 80 different cities around the world. The gathering was a rare opportunity for leaders to exchange insights and innovations in a private discussion.
Leaders from Brazil, Rwanda, Canada and cities across Europe discussed a number of issues under the umbrella topics of continuity, change and city leadership. With a spirit of determined optimism, they spoke of a new cycle of development driven by several major triggers: population growth, rapid urbanisation, global climate change, climate emergency, and the economic crisis and restructuring of 2007-2010.
Greg Clark, Senior Fellow for ULI, and Chairman of the OECD Local Development Forum, was moderator of this year’s MIPIM Think Tank, and reported on the developments and insights shared.
